The Templer Inn is an exclusive, family-run, all-suite bed and breakfast in a meticulously-restored Templer mansion just steps from the First Train Station and within walking distance of the Old City.
It provides the ideal setting for all visitors, whether in Jerusalem for pleasure or for business, as an individual, a couple or a family (children are accepted above the age of 10).
Each of the Templer Inn’s four discrete suites provides a uniquely historic experience in Jerusalem’s most desirable and central neighborhood: The German Colony.
Now, after careful restoration and upgrading to 21st century standards, this distinctive 1890s landmark welcomes you to a Jerusalem only the discerning few will get to experience.
Jerusalem is unique. Yet, when it comes to accommodation and hospitality it can be a little predictable. The Templer Inn is among the rare architectural gems that define Jerusalem’s historic and picturesque German Colony – and the only one that offers hospitality to sophisticated travelers.
Christian Jakob Messerle was a member of the original Templer community that pioneered the German Colony in the 1890s. He built his gracious stone residence with its large windows, stone floors and green shutters to house his large family.
The house with its expansive walled garden has been owned by the family of Alon Beham Eran for three generations.
Alon and his wife have devoted several years to restoring and upgrading this historic home to accommodate visitors seeking a unique Jerusalem experience.
Each of the four suites retains both the grandeur and details that define Templer architecture; combining both European and distinctly Jerusalem elements. These include high cambered and arched ceilings, thick walls, tall windows and stone floors.
The upper level is comprised of two suites that flank a small lobby. The lower level is comprised of two suites as well, each with its own entrance.
All four suites feature separate bedrooms and living rooms with fully equipped kitchenettes including refrigerator, microwave, kettle and espresso machine. Each suite has air conditioning, satellite TV and WiFi. The luxurious en-suite bathrooms offer abundant towels, bathrobes, slippers, and quality bath gels and shampoos for each guest. In some suites, the living room sofas can be made up as an additional double bed,
The walled garden is a common area for the exclusive enjoyment of Templer Inn guests. This is also where gourmet Israeli breakfasts (dairy, without kosher certificate) are served every morning.
Location. Location. Location.
Even the most beautiful property is only as good as its location. In this regard, as well, the Templer Inn stands apart.
The German Colony is one of Jerusalem’s most beautiful neighbourhoods, due to its rural charm, picturesque houses, and charming alleys.
Although quiet and serene, the Templer Inn provides easy access to Jerusalem magnets such as The First Station, Jerusalem Theatre, Khan Theatre, Cinematheque, and, of course, the myriad dining options of the German Colony’s Emek Refaim and the adjacent Baka neighbourhood.
The Old City can be reached on foot in fifteen minutes. Historic Yemin Moshe and its landmark windmill are around the corner. Jaffa Road and the Machaneh Yehuda shuk (market) can be reached either by walking or by bus, and the treasures of the Israel Museum, Bible Lands Museum, the Knesset and Supreme Court are a quick ten-minute ride by car or taxi.
